The Dutton Showroom is not just a place to see, it is a place to be seen, it is a social hub, a landmark.

The first Dutton building, built by Albert Octavius Dutton in 1911, was situated at Burnley Street Richmond. The modest service station and repair workshop developed into a larger premises designed and built by his son Albie Dutton in 1965. This building housed a service and repairs workshop with a new car and prestige second hand car showroom.

The second Dutton showroom was located at 525 Church Street, Richmond. In 1989, Jeff Dutton and his father Albie renovated an old chocolate factory creating a unique space for a prestige car dealership. This showroom became one of the most visited in Australia with a museum like display of cars, memorabilia, artwork and in the early 1990's the first cafe within a showroom, Caffe Veloce. The walls were covered with signatures of racing, sporting identities and worldwide celebrities including a great porsche enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld. This showroom also presented a unique function centre and became the venue for exclusive private and corporate events.

The third showroom has just opened in 2007 in a magnificent development, known as the Dutton building designed by Plus Architecture ( a joint venture of Fender Katsilidis and SJB Architects ). This is located at 9-11 Claremont Street, South Yarra. This street level showroom has been designed for displaying rare, exotic and prestige automobiles with the luxurious space also providing an excellent function centre.

This new South Yarra precinct is fast becoming the 'latest' social meeting place with the development of offices, apartment and retail outlets.
